Learning Solutions Specialist - Western US

Job Summary

The Learning Solutions Specialist (LSS) plays a pivotal role in EMC School’s goal of providing premier content, digital learning solutions, and professional development to our K-12 program users. The LSS will work in collaboration with the Sales, Editorial, Product Development, and User Experience teams to develop the best marketing, training, relationship management, and content for potential and current EMC customers. The LSS will rely on in-depth content knowledge and marketing skills in pre-sales opportunities to promote and demonstrate EMC products at presentations on-site, via webinar, or during conferences. Post-sales, the LSS remains an integral part of customer relationship management by devising and delivering the best training methods and long-term professional development for teachers using EMC programs and learning technology. As a primary point of contact with EMC users, the LSS will assist the User Experience team with the initial implementation of EMC’s digital learning products and with consistent customer outreach to ensure continued use and best practices. The LSS will track client feedback, trends in the field, and pedagogical practices to contribute suggestions for future program enhancements. The LSS will consult on the development of content and support materials and often create these materials for users.

This position will be located in the Western United States, preferably near a major airport, and requires extensive overnight travel, up to 70% of the time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial product implementation training, including digital products, to new EMC customers
  • Provide in-services and ongoing product training and professional development to EMC customers
  • Form part of the customer relationship team along with Account Mangers, Customer Service, Technical Support, and the User Experience team to provide EMC customers with outstanding service and support
  • Maintain detailed records of all customer interactions
  • Present and demo EMC products at sales presentations, conferences, via webinars, etc. on behalf of EMC Sales and Marketing departments
  • Assist Account Managers with closing sales by facilitating in-depth communications with potential customers regarding content and digital learning solutions
  • Develop and maintain support and educational content materials for EMC products, particularly EMC’s digital products
  • Provide user (customer and personal) experience feedback to Product Development teams to inform development of EMC products
  • Represent EMC via designated social media platforms

Education and Experience

  • Experience in teaching World Languages to K-12 students
  • Advanced degree in a World Language (Spanish, French, German) is preferred
  • Experience in creating Lesson Plans which incorporate technology for the K–12 World Language classroom
  • Experience in presenting both live and online presentations using common presentation software such as PowerPoint, Keynote, WebEx, etc. to large and small groups
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience in a K—12 World Language classroom
  • Demonstrated experience of presentational skills in-person and online
  • Tech savviness with an interest in Ed-tech trends
  • Knowledge of common operating systems, software, and digital devices

  • Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written communications
  • Effective communication of complex technology information in clear, precise language
  • Knowledge of operating systems and digital devices: PC and Mac, mobile devices, projection equipment, etc.
  • Technological literacy sufficient to work directly with Product Development and User Experience teams to successfully implement training and support for educators—including administrative, instructor, and student functions in EMC’s digital offerings.
  • Ability to adapt to a constantly evolving technology platform and to communicate updated features to customers
  • Ability to collaborate, assist, and advise Account Managers in building customer relationships in pre-and post-sales situations, including addressing potential customers’ needs and questions, arranging training sessions, and organizing customer outreach.
  • Ability to create and present sales and support material for customers.
  • Exceptional customer service skills in delivering program and technology solutions and support.
  • General knowledge of the product field, detailed content knowledge, and thorough understanding of EMC School’s programs and digital products.
  • Self-motivation and good multitasking abilities to work from a mobile office while traveling.
  • Willingness to travel overnight up to 70% (depending on base location).
