Sales Support Specialist

Job Summary

The Sales Support Specialist (SSS) provides timely and effective support to K-12 field-based Sales Representatives and Managers, to ensure sales goals are met and exceeded within assigned sales territories. In addition, the SSS supports the sales team by assisting with new sales leads, managing the correspondence between the sales team and school personnel; tracking accounts in Salesforce; and creating and providing data and reports to help the sales team. The SSS works under limited supervision and performs independently within established policies and procedures.

Successful Sales Support Specialists with demonstrated sales abilities could be considered for additional sales positions in the future.

This position is located in St. Paul, MN. Relocation assistance will not be provided.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop an in-depth K-12 EMC product knowledge including print and technology.
  • Answer customer questions as appropriate to support the sales process. Favorably position EMC products by consistently demonstrating product knowledge with respect to new and existing materials, including software and electronic products.
  • Utilize to prepare professional sales quotes as requested. Assist in presenting, demonstrating, and selling products to customers on the telephone, by email, and occasionally on site, as needed.
  • Utilize to help manage opportunities and a sales pipeline of revenue for a specified group of account managers.
  • Assist on RFPs and work with the Adoptions Manager to prepare state adoption bids
  • Work with marketing to ensure proper maintenance of flyers, product documentation, catalogs, and other marketing materials.
  • Assist marketing and sales team in preparing for sales presentations and sales conferences.
  • Maintain and manage customer information in Salesforce and other databases. Review, interpret, and evaluate data to assist the sales team in targeting sales opportunities.
  • Assist in qualifying leads and sales opportunities to ensure effective time and budget management.
  • Organize and execute sales/marketing campaigns for new product introductions and new component releases.
  • Analyze information and provide reports to sales management on a timely basis.
  • Act as liaison with Customer Service to resolve customer issues, address customer requests, and ensure product availability for large orders.
  • Consistently demonstrate a command, curiosity, and aptitude in the areas of technology, multimedia, the internet, and trends in selling to the K-12 education market.
  • Maintain high level of personal productivity and effectiveness. Consistently demonstrate ability to use basic and advanced features of Salesforce and Microsoft Office software and other productivity tools to efficiently prepare presentations, reports, correspondence, and targeted sales campaigns.
  • Maintain proper documentation and paperwork; provide timely reports to management as requested.
  • Performs other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required. Some higher education preferred
  • 2 years of marketing, selling, or sales support experience preferred; support of educational sales team preferred

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the sales process.
  • Strong writing, proofreading, and editing skills are preferred
  • Self-directed, with ability to prioritize and support multiple sales representatives.
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • Occasional travel required.
